  • 1 cup chana dal
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp black salt
  • ¼ tsp chaat masala
  • Oil for deep frying

Step-by-step

Soak dal
Step 1 — Soak the dal

Wash and soak chana dal for 6–8 hours. Drain excess water.

Dry dal
Step 2 — Dry the dal

Spread the dal on a cloth or plate to remove moisture.

Fry dal
Step 3 — Fry

Deep fry the dal on medium flame until crispy and golden.

Season
Step 4 — Season

Mix fried dal with salt, chilli powder, black salt and chaat masala while warm.

Store namkeen
Step 5 — Cool & store

Once fully cooled, store in an airtight container.

  • Sprinkle amchur for extra tanginess.
  • Ensure dal is dry before frying to avoid oil spluttering.
