Ingredients

  • 4 bread slices
  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 green chilli (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ¼ tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to make thick batter
  • Oil or ghee for toasting

Step-by-step

Make batter
Step 1 — Make the besan batter

Mix besan, onion, green chilli, coriander, turmeric, red chilli powder and salt. Add water gradually to form a thick spreadable batter.

Spread batter
Step 2 — Spread on bread

Spread the batter evenly on one or both sides of bread for extra crispiness.

Toast bread
Step 3 — Toast

Heat oil or ghee on a pan. Toast each side until crisp and golden brown.

Serve hot
Step 4 — Serve

Serve hot with green chutney or ketchup.
